The Borough of Harrow Swimming Club (BHSC) was founded in 1976 to encourage and pursue high standards in the sport of Competitive Swimming.

BHSC is a member of the Amateur Swimming Association and is for non-profit organization. We also provide Learn to Swim lessons for swimmers from 4 years of age.

These lessons are in the teaching pool at Harrow Leisure Centre and are based upon the National Plan for Teaching Swimming produced by the Amateur Swimming Association, National Governing Body for Swimming.

Our ‘learn to swim’ programme is delivered by a number of qualified swimming teachers. This is the 1st level of the Borough of Harrow Swimming Club and swimmers in this group are invited to join the ‘big pool’ only when they are considered to be ready and have attended a transition group and passed a trial training session.

It is a programme designed to teach youngsters the basic techniques of swimming. More details can be found in the ‘Learn to swim’ section of the website or by emailing Borough of Harrow Swimming Club has held swim21 accreditation since 2010. This is regarded as the backbone of the ASA’s development programme. swim 21 is the ASA’s club development model – a planning tool, enabling clubs to help swimmers, coaches and administrators achieve their full potential. It is centered around the needs of the swimmers – striving to provide them with the best possible environment.

BHSC currently has the use of four pools: Harrow Leisure Centre Pool, St. Margaret School Pool, St. Helen's School Pool and Sir James Altham Pool. For details of the training times please refer to the club’s website.

The club is run by an elected executive committee. The committee exists to run the financial and logistical affairs of the club, and to support the swimmers and coaches. Regular monthly meetings are held and the Annual General Meeting is in November. All committee members are volunteers. For a full and up to date list of committee members please see the website.

If you would like to get involved in this side of the club please speak to the Club Chairman or any committee member.
